Boshin - Forgiveness; acceptance

Boshin is a goddess of forgiveness, similar to the Virgin Mary in Western religions, as well as motherhood and love. Instead of asking for something, when praying to Boshin you can ask for forgiveness through repentance. She will receive and accept everything and grant you love and forgiveness.

Of the many goddesses who appear in Japanese creation myths the mother who gave birth to many gods, Izanami-no-Mikoto, is the most well known. However, there are other goddesses who possess maternal traits, and of these one famous mother goddess who many people in Japan believe in even now is Konohanasakuya-hime. She is enshrined at Mount Fuji, the symbol of Japan. She was the wife of Ninigi-no-Mikoto, who descended to earth from the heavens of Takamagahara. When she suspected she was pregnant Konohanasakuya-hime set fire to the maternity house and gave birth there to prove her innocence. For this reason, temples where she is enshrined attract prayers for children and safe childbirth.

Henkashin’s top half is human and his bottom half is a fish, what is commonly known as a mermaid or merman. They are sometimes depicted holding a fire torch or trident. Beings with this appearance are known around the world; for example, Poseidon and Leviathan. These deities are called by many names and are found in faiths all over the world as both good and evil beings.

Kuzuryū is known as the god of learning as he makes everything that is difficult or complicated much easier. He is a god who will support everyone’s learning, study and knowledge, from children to adults.

Kuzuryū is a nine-headed dragon who is worshipped all over Japan. The oldest and most famous existence is the Kuzuryū god of Mount Togakushi in Nagano, who is said to be the god of rain and water. In Hakone, Kuzuryū is revered at the Kuzuryū Shrine. He is one of the guardian deities of the Hakone region, and it is said that he brings fortune such as prosperity in business and marriage.

Using the Japanese Gods & Spirits Oracle

The beings depicted in these cards have been faithfully reproduced as I saw them spiritually. Therefore, I would like you to use them as a tool to synchronise with these beings rather than just viewing them as illustrations.

When you arise in the morning shuffle the cards eight times. You can also spread them out and stir them around, with one motion of stirring the cards being the same as one shuffle. After you have shuffled them eight times take a deep breath and steady your breathing. Once your mind is calm and you are able to focus, ask in your mind: ‘Which spirit or god is protecting me today?’

Shuffle the cards a further six times, then gather the cards into a single pile and flip over the top card. By doing this, the being protecting you on that day will appear much more accurately. If you are dealing with a particular problem you can change the wording of your question. For instance, you can ask for a specific deity to help you deal with your problem.
