Understanding different entities.

Practitioners may encounter many kinds of spirits. Although this is not an exhaustive list, the following categories will help you differentiate their energies and decide if you want to connect with them. When you understand the different types of energies beforehand, you know what you may be dealing with and thus identify the kind of energy you would like to work with in your practice.

Energetic allies and identifying spirits

Spirit guides are not wish-fulfillment fantasies or invisible babysitters. They’re not here to take control of your life, and they’re not obliged to show up just because you’ve called. These relationships are sacred. Like any meaningful relationship, they require reciprocity, clarity, and patience. There’s a tendency, especially in new age spaces, to romanticize spirit guides as ever-present beings dispensing cosmic wisdom on command. In reality, they are complex, distinct intelligences, each working with us in unique ways depending on our capacity, path, and willingness to engage with respect.

Inner sight and psychic senses

There’s more to reality than what is visible to the physical eye. Across time and cultures, seers, diviners, oracles, and visionaries have moved between worlds, reading the currents of energy, spirit, and fate.
